What is Love?
Everyday we throw around the word love like it is just another word in our vocabulary. Love is more than a four-letter word used to describe a feeling above like. Love should be reserved for those people and moments in our lives that bring us true happiness. For example, I love my children. I love my family. I love making food for my children and my family!
Feeding my family brings so much joy into my heart. Watching my boys eat the healthy food I have prepared for them is the reason I breath. Cooking is such a big part of my family and one of our most enjoyed activities we do together. Baby Boo’s food has been an exciting addition to our family menu. Last night’s dinner included roasted cauliflower steaks for us and roasted cauliflower mash for Baby Boo. Next to bananas and sweet potatoes this is his favorite food to eat.
I always buy organic. If you are unable to buy organic, don’t let that stop you from eating vegetables. Try your best to follow the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 lists. I have copied the link here https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/ I also make my own fruit and veggie wash secretly hoping that gets some of the messy stuff off of my food and away from our bellies. I will share that in my next post! Luckily, cauliflower is on the Clean 15 list!
1 head of organic cauliflower
1 garlic clove mashed
4 ounces of water
pinch of onion powder
pinch of Himalayan salt
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper. Rinse your cauliflower, remove the leaves and cut off the stem. With the bottom on the cutting board, cut it in half and cut your steaks to be about 1 inch thick. Lay the steaks on the parchment paper and season lightly with the garlic, onion powder and salt. Pour the water on the sheet and bake for 1 hour.
Remove from the baking sheet. I take 2-3 steaks and place it in the Vitamix to blend until smooth. You can add a little breastmilk or filtered water to achieve the desired consistency for your baby’s stage.
Please let me know how yours turns out!
Happy cooking and be-well wishes! 💕
